JS7 JobScheduler consulting, implementation and migration.
We help teams plan, set up, migrate and run JS7, the open source workload automation platform from SOS Berlin. One team covers the whole job, from the first workflow to day-to-day operations.

A workload automation platform for jobs that have to run on time
JS7 JobScheduler is open source software that starts and controls your scheduled work: scripts, executables, database procedures and file transfers. It runs jobs on a schedule or when an event happens, follows the dependencies between them, and shows every run in one web interface. It is developed by SOS GmbH in Berlin and used in more than 100 countries.
The web interface
Where your team builds workflows, sets schedules, checks the daily plan and reads job logs. Access is controlled by role.
The coordinator
Decides what runs and when, and sends the work to the right Agent. It can run as a cluster, so there is no single point of failure.
Where jobs run
Lightweight Agents on each server execute the jobs, many at once, and keep working on their own if the connection drops.
What we do for JS7 customers
Take one service or all of them. The same engineers stay with you from planning to support.
Consulting and architecture
We review how your jobs run today and design a JS7 setup that fits your servers, security rules and growth.
- Current-state review
- Cluster and Agent design
- Sizing and high availability
Implementation
We install and configure JS7 on-premises, in the cloud or in containers, and connect it to your login and monitoring.
- JOC Cockpit, Controller and Agents
- LDAP or Active Directory login
- Alerts to email and monitoring tools
Migration
We move your existing jobs to JS7 and run both systems side by side until the results match.
- From cron and Windows Task Scheduler
- From JobScheduler 1.x
- From other commercial schedulers
Workflow development
We build the jobs and workflows your business needs, including file transfers, database tasks and error handling.
- Dependencies across servers
- Managed file transfer with YADE
- Restart and recovery rules
Upgrades and support
We keep JS7 current and healthy, and help when a job fails or a release needs testing.
- Version upgrades
- Performance and health checks
- Ongoing support
Training
Hands-on sessions so your team can build, schedule and monitor workflows on its own.
- Operator training
- Workflow design training
- Admin and troubleshooting
Moving from cron or another scheduler
Most teams come to JS7 when cron jobs or an older scheduler become hard to track, or when licence costs grow. We plan the move so nothing is missed and nothing stops running.
Inventory
We list every job, its schedule, its dependencies and who relies on its output.
Map and design
Each job is mapped to a JS7 workflow, with clearer dependencies and error handling where needed.
Convert and test
We build the workflows in JS7 and test them against real schedules and data.
Run in parallel
Old and new systems run side by side until the results match.
Switch over
We move production to JS7, hand over documentation and stay on for support.
What JS7 gives your operations team
Workflows with dependencies
Jobs that wait for each other, across servers and operating systems, with flexible error handling.
Schedules and daily plan
Start times, cycles and file triggers, with a daily plan you can adjust for specific dates.
High availability
Clustered Controller with automatic fail-over, and Agents that keep working on their own.
Role-based access
Fine-grained permissions per team, with LDAP or Active Directory login.
Managed file transfer
SFTP, FTP, FTPS, WebDAV and HTTP transfers through YADE, as steps inside your workflows.
Monitoring and alerts
Notifications on failure, delay or recovery, by email or to tools such as Nagios and Zabbix.
Full history
Past runs, job logs and results, searchable by time, status and folder.
Cloud and containers
Runs on Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift, on-premises, in the cloud or in a hybrid setup.
Choose how you run it
On-premises
JS7 on your own servers, installed and configured by our team.
Cloud and hybrid
JS7 in containers on your cloud, alongside the servers you keep on-site.
Open source or commercial
Start with the open source edition, or use a commercial licence from SOS with 24/7 and long-term support. We implement both.
Common questions about JS7 JobScheduler
What is workload automation?
Workload automation means running your scheduled business and IT jobs automatically, in the right order, and with a record of every run. Instead of separate scripts on separate servers, one system starts the jobs, handles failures and shows you the status.
What is the difference between JobScheduler and JS7?
JS7 is the current generation of SOS Berlin’s JobScheduler. It replaces the older 1.x release with a new architecture: a Controller, independent Agents and the JOC Cockpit web interface. If you still run JobScheduler 1.x, we can migrate you to JS7.
Is JS7 free to use?
JS7 is available as open source. SOS Berlin also offers commercial licences with 24/7 support and long-term support releases. We help you decide which fits and implement either one.
Can JS7 replace cron or Windows Task Scheduler?
Yes. JS7 covers the same scheduling, and adds dependencies between jobs, central monitoring, retries, alerts and a full history of every run across all your servers.
What does Zehntech’s SOS Berlin partnership mean for me?
Zehntech is a certified implementation and consulting partner of SOS GmbH, the company that develops JS7. Our engineers work with the product every day and contribute code to the open source project.
